Unique buildings
The Sagrada Família is Antoni Gaudí"s best-known work and has become an undisputed symbol of Barcelona. This unique modern temple has been under construction since 1882.
CaixaForum, the Cultural Centre of "La Caixa" Foundation, is housed in one of Barcelona's landmark buildings, the Casaramona textile mill, a jewel of industrial modernista architecture designed by
Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
The colour and fantasy of the Casa Batlló captivates passers-by on the Passeig de Gràcia. Standing halfway up this elegant boulevard and in a strongly contrasting style to the neighbouring houses, the Casa Amatller and Casa Lleó Morera, this building reveals the splendour of an architect who was able to work on this project with total creative freedom, Antoni Gaudí.
In the central Barcelona"s Passeig de Gràcia, we find the Casa Milà or La Pedrera, a blend of fantasy and functionality make this architectural landmark a must-see visitor attraction. This is the culmination of Antoni Gaudí"s career, designed as a modernista building tailored to the new social needs, without forgetting his main source of inspiration: nature and organic forms.
Barcelona"s Casa Vicens (1883-1885), declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005, a unique oasis of calm with an Oriental and Moorish flavour, stands in the peaceful
neighbourhood of Gràcia. The building is covered with spectacular green and white tiles.
