Unique buildings
The Fundació Joan Miró is located in Montjuïc Park in a magnificent Mediterranean-style building designed by Josep Lluís Sert, and houses the most important public collection of works by Joan Miró.
The Gran Teatre del Liceu was built in 1847 and is a unique cultural facility in Barcelona and one of Europe"s leading opera houses. Located on the Rambla, every year it hosts major opera and ballet productions and symphony concerts. The building was destroyed by fire in 1994 and reopened in 1999 after a magnificent reconstruction.
L"Auditori, which is located in the Eixample, covers a surface area of 42,000m2 and is one of Barcelona"s premier music venues. The wood-lined main auditorium, the Sala Pau Casals, can seat 2,340 people and has exceptional acoustics which can be experienced as you enjoy a wide variety of musical styles, from symphonic music to rock and the works of singer-songwriters.
A baroque building welcomes you in
Barcelona"s Rambla, past Carme street, and it will awaken your curiosity because its highly-decorated façade and the interior courtyard and staircases give a glimpse of wealth and power. Go inside Palau de la Virreina and maybe you will be surprised by some art exhibition organised there.
The outline of the Collserola tower stands out on Barcelona"s cityscape like a needle pointing skywards. It has been one of the iconic symbols of modern Barcelona since 1992 and has an observation deck, 115 m above the city, which boasts 360o views of the Barcelona plain.
