The Nova Icària Beach is rightly considered to be a very peaceful beach, and is a popular choice for families and groups of friends. Lying very close to the Port Olímpic, it is surrounded by a great variety of restaurants and bars, as well as the most comprehensive range of facilities for sports and other activities on the entire coastline.

Accessibility on Barcelona's beaches
All city beaches have reserved parking with accessible routes to the dry beach area, visual and tactile signage and information, adapted toilets, adapted showers, and wooden walkways that get as close as possible to the water. Public transport is also adapted to allow access from anywhere in the city.

Bathing assistance for people with reduced mobility
This accessible beach with assisted bathing service has an inclusive changing room, amphibious chair, life jackets, a shaded canopy, and service to assist people with reduced mobility to enter and leave the water and enjoy bathing.

Times:

  • Mid bathing season (10:30 am to 6:30 pm): from 12 to 21 and from 26 to 30 April, from 1 to 23 May, from 12 to 28 September, and on 4 and 5 October.
  • High bathing season (10:30 am to 7:30 pm): from 24 May to 11 September.

Accessibility details


All city beaches, which spread along more than 4.5 kilometers, are barrier-free areas.

Besides, Barceloneta and Nova Icària beaches, as well as the Fòrum bathing area, offer a personalised assisted bathing service for disabled people who can not access water independently.

Periods and timetable for the assisted bathing service at Nova Icaria beach:
June, weekends and public holidays.
July, August and the first fortnight in September, every day.
Second fortnight in September, weekends and public holidays.
Times, 11am-2pm and 4pm-7pm.

To help people with disabilities to get in and out of the water, and enjoy the bath, there are the following devices:

- a crane for people who need to transfer from their wheelchair to the floating wheelchair or shower
Two floating wheelchairs
- three pairs of water cructches
- and two wheelchairs.

Motor impairment
Nova Icaria Beach, offers the assisted bathing service and the following amenities:

Reserved parking bays for people with reduced mobility.
Wooden walkway to the water’s edge.
Side platforms for wheelchairs.
Preferential zone for disabled bathers.
Changing room and adapted toilet.
Umbrellas.
Shower cubicles with seat.
